Sigma Dry’n Shape System

I have to admit, I am guilty of not washing my brushes as often as I probably should. And my reason, or rather excuse is that it takes way too long for the brushes to dry and I can never find a good day to wash them. It always has to be either over the weekend or on one of those “stay-home-days” where I would have absolutely no use for my brushes.

I had recently purchased the Sigma Dry’n Shape System. To be honest, when I first saw this product on Sigma’s website, I was skeptical – I mean, it looks just like a brush bag to me! Even after watching countless reviews on YouTube, I must say I was not completely sold to the idea that this little belt-like thing would expedite the drying of my brushes.

Nevertheless, I gave in during the Black Friday Online Sales to give it a try. I mean.. even if it doesn’t work well as a “Brush Quick-dry” it should and would probably be perfect as a travel brush bag.

I must say, I was dumbfounded by the results of this Dry’n Shape System.

According to the instructions, just wash the brushes, find a rubber strap that is slightly tight for our brush and “wring” your brush in. Leave it on for 4 to 6 hours and voila! You will be left with not just clean brushes but also nicely shaped ones.

Without hesitation, I put it to the test with 12 of my brushes, all of different sizes – including my big fluffy kabuki Inika brush of the far left.

I think the essential step here is to ensure that the elastic band grips onto the brush head tightly. The tighter the grip, the quicker the brush will dry. I left these out to dry at about 1am and checked them the next morning at 7am.

I must say, I was impressed. OK, 6 hours isn’t all that impressive but it dried even my fluffiest brush in that time!! Best of all, all my brushes retained it’s original shape and came out looking good and clean as new. I have since used it 3 more times and it never fails to impress me, except that it doesn’t work too well for eyeshadow brushes simple because they are too thin for the elastic that came with the system. I guess it’s still acceptable this way, since shadow brushes usually dry pretty quickly on their own due to their size.

  • Works perfectly with most face brushes
  • Easy to use without being messy – as opposed to drying brushes on towels
  • Eliminates any future excuses to delay washing of brushes
  • Double up as a brush bag perfect for travel

  • Price! At USD29.90 it is pretty expensive for a little thing like that.

On the whole, I have no regrets getting this. At least now I have clean brushes more often! On top of that, I have a free brush bag which keeps the shape of my brushes without brush guards.
