Review: GlamGlow YouthMud & SuperMud + Giveaway

Review: GlamGlow YouthMud & SuperMud + Giveaway

I first heard about GlamGlow early last year while reading USWeekly as it was touted as a must-have among celebrities but of course, products don’t launch in Singapore at the same pace. I soon forgotten about it until my best friend picked it up in Sydney when she was on a business trip. She was raving about it non-stop but I wasn’t convinced enough to get her to CP one bottle back for me. I like to try it on myself because most mud masks were pretty drying for me.

My first encounter came when I was in Melbourne last August for my sabbatical. I picked up a sample (the BA Scooped a small amount into a little tub) of the YouthMud and SuperMud from Mecca Cosmetica to try and though I loved the SuperMud, it wasn’t enough for me to run out and get a full-sized bottle since I had luggage space constraints.

When I saw GlamGlow at Sephora back in January, I immediately picked up the YouthMud to try again because I remembered I loved how clean and bright my skin looked right after masking.

I was later invited to a launch where founders Glenn and Shannon Dellimore were in town to introduce the product. According to them, this mask was initially created to help their good friend Keanu Reeves look Red Carpet perfect in 10 minutes. It worked wonders and soon, more celebrities started trying it and encouraged them to create the product in larger quantities and market it commercially. And so, GlamGlow was born!

Designed as a 10-minute professional ‘facial in a jar’ for behind-the-scenes use in Hollywood’s Entertainment, Music, Fashion and Award industries for men and women. Groundbreaking patent pending TEAOXI is GlamGlow’s proprietary time-release technology for instant camera-ready glowing skin.

It comes with 50g of product and is available at Sephora stores and Tangs at $92.

Results claimed:

  • Leaves skin noticeably radiant and glowing
  • Activates collagen synthesis
  • Provides gentle resurfacing exfoliation
  • Helps to leave skin smoother, brighter and softer
  • Provides tighter skin texture and tighter pores

  • Absorbs impurities without removing natural oils
  • Helps to protect against free radical damage

To use: Apply a thin layer to clean face and leave on for up to 10 minutes. Recommended to use twice a week or as often as needed. Personally, I think once a week is more than sufficient.

I have been using the YouthMud consistently once a week to exfoliate and deep cleanse my fave. I was surprised by the effects of the YouthMud because it felt different to when I first tried it in Melbourne. For one, the mud was slightly more liquidy and easier to apply. There was also a much stronger tingling feeling than when I tried it in Melbourne, which I love. I am guessing this is because it was a brand new tub as opposed to the in-store sample which was scooped out into a small container for me to sample. Exposure to air might have reduced the effects of the mask.

How I use:

I would use a spatula to stir the mud in the tub before applying a thin layer to my face. Be sure to apply a thin layer, even if you apply more products, the effect would be the same. The only difference would be the drying time. The mask dries up quite quickly and in about 10 minutes it should fully dry up and be ready to be washed off.

There are little bits of what I believe look like seaweed in the mask which helps exfoliate the skin when washing off. The tingling effect can be pretty bad the first time you use it, I guess that’s when you have a lot of impurities but subsequent uses should feel better.

My thoughts on the YouthMud:

  • I love how it deep cleanses the skin, my pores feel so clean after each use.
  • It also provides a radiant glow as you can see from the picture above.
  • The smell is so therapeutic!

When I was in Melboutne, I got a sample of the GlamGlow SuperMud and tried it on my nose and forehead since it might have been too much for my entire face since I’ve got normal to dry skin. Unfortunately, it broke me out slightly and I stayed from it eversince then. I did however try it on my hubby.

I used the SuperMud on his nose and YouthMud on the rest of the face. Hubby has combination skin so you can see the SuperMud working to vacuum all the clogged oil and impurities from deep within his pores. I use this mask combination for him once a week, usually after his football session!

The verdict: He loves it! In his own words “this is so much more painless compared to the hundreds of extraction I get during facials”. It leaves his skin very smooth and clean each time.

If you are looking for a good exfoliant, I think you should give this a try. Bear in mind that SuperMud works better for people with problem or oily skin whereas the YouthMud is great for all skin types.

  1. Hi would you mind sharing which blog platform you’re using?
I’m planning to start my own blog soon but I’m having a tough time
    selecting between BlogEngine/Wordpress/B2evolution and Drupal.

The reason I ask is because your design seems different then most blogs and I’m
looking for something unique. P.S My apologies for getting off-topic but

I really want to try the Glam Glow masks because I have heard all these super reviews from the different YouTubers and I would very much want to try them myself. I have tried numerous masks (Queen Helene, Ahava, Clinique etc) and haven’t really found one that I truly can’t live without. It’s a real pity that they are so expensive and I would love to get these samples so that I can try them on and then decide if I’m going to splurge on them!

I literally ran to sephora to grab super mud the very day you posted on Instagram of it being available in sg! Loved it so much and have since been curious to know if youth mud will work on me! But it’s so costly which explains why I’ve procrastinating. I once again jumped when I found out that you’re giving out samples!

  10. Anne

    Hi Mabel,
I would like to try supermud to see if it really worth the hype.
I have very oily/ blemish skin, with clogged pores, especially around the areas in the T-zone (its sad to have such problem at such ripe age! arrgghh!) I’ve tried numerous mud based masks, such as Eve Lom, Origins, Khiels, Paula’s Choice etc. Sad to say, i still could not find one that can really “suck’ out the dirt and cleanse the pores…

    The search continue..

    Thanks ๐Ÿ™‚

    • debra

I would like to try the GlamGlow mud masks as I have only had a facial once in my life! My friend was a beauty student and I was her guinea pig.

I am working in a charity and it’s really fast paced. Sometimes, I work dead into the night which makes my skin sallow and my blackheads are screaming.

Haha, pick me and I will do a review as well. Spread the love!
