REVIEW: Biore Cotton Sheets Relaunch
Value For Money10
Imagine this… after a long day at work, you proceed to catch up with friends for dinner and a couple drinks to wind down. By the time you get home at 12 midnight, all you want to do is snuggle under your comforter and zone out. BUT, we all know that’s not possible because the number one tip to good skin is clean skin, especially when we wear make-up for 12 hours a day.
This is when cleaning wipes become really handy because they cut my otherwise 3-step cleansing routine to just one single step! How awesome! My favourite brand of wipes have always been the Biore Cotton Sheets. Recently, they had launched a new improved formulation of the cotton sheets and I must say, I love them.
Like I mentioned, I always keep a stash of these cleansing wipes at home so I was able to do a comparison of the new versus old wipes. Biore has maintained it’s box, refill and handy packs which is fantastic and superb for different occasions. One of the most obvious difference is the box. The new box is slightly bigger and is shaped like an old-school bar soap holder which is so adorable. It does function differently to the old box though. The old box had more of a “tissue box” concept where you open up the flap to expose the wipes and can immediately pull them out. The new one is really just a box!
Personally, I like the feel of the older box but it has it’s downside – the wipes are more exposed to the air and dry out more quickly since the design of the box does not allow you to keep the refill pack’s sticker on. I guess this could be one of the reasons behind the new box design. It gives you the option to seal back the sticker after each use. I would personally recommend leaving the sticker on so that you can retain all the moisture in the wipes. Biore claims that the new box is air-tight (I beg to differ). Fundamentally, I don’t think the box is necessary because it really does not serve any functional purpose in this case but since it only cost $2.30 more to get the box and first refill pack, you could get the tub for the first time and then just get refill subsequently. But if you feel that you don’t need the box, just get the refill and ensure the sticker is sealed up after each use. Good enough!
I also found the new sheets to be thicker and slightly bigger. They also feel a lot more moist than the old ones.
3 Key improvements to the new Biore Cotton Sheets:
- Speedier make-up removal – 20% more cleansing oil in each sheet
- Gentler to skin – 50% less repeated wiping on eye area, lashes and face
- Moist after skin feel – now with hydrating beauty essence
My final thoughts:
These new cotton sheets definitely worked really well, even better than the old ones!! I was so surprised that it manages to remove my waterproof mascara and THREE eyeliner fully – something that was not possible with the older wipes. My face also felt hydrated and does not feel tight after cleansing. I would normally follow on with my Eve Lom cleansing balm just to fully cleanse again to remove any remaining traces of make-up and dirt (which is second to none). There was no need to use a separate eye make-up remover in this case. My usual one is coincidentally the Biore eye and lips make-up remover! All in all, excellent product which is great to keep on hand in the bathroom, for travel and even for your daily make-up pouch to wipe off any eyeliner smudges, etc..
