Lancôme Lip Lover – Is it worth the hype?

Lancôme Lip Lover – Is it worth the hype?

Hello beautiful people! It’s been a while. I have been struggling a little with getting my blogging mojo back on track since I’ve got a mountain high of backlog to clear. Have been trying out a bunch of products and been making little notes here and there but never had the time to sit myself down for a couple hours to pen down my thoughts in a more cohesive and structured manner. While I was away in Sydney the last 2 weeks, there was a big launch of the new Lancôme Lip Lover at Sephora Ion. Wish I could join in the fun..   According to Lancome, it is….

One of a kind, its hybrid formula combines refined colour effects, “made-to-measure” shine and lasting comfort… Lip Lover truly beautifies every smile with its infinitely adjustable shades that can be customised to suit every mood! Adorns lips with the je ne sais quoi that invites a kiss…

More liquid lipsticks this Spring! Lancôme Lip Lover is formulated to drench lips with moisture for 8hr and smoothe fine lines Can't wait to try them out!! PS: I love the compact, cute and small packaging ☺️   imageimage   There are 18 shades in the range and they are all permanent. Each Lip Lover is going for $40 and is currently already available at all Lancôme counters as well as Sephora.   image image image   I don’t usually gravitate towards lip gloss because I prefer lip colours that are long lasting and leave behind a slight stain. That being said, I decided to give the Lip Lovers a try. And wow! I was so wrong to think that this was just “another gloss”.

Not just another gloss.. why I love it!

PIGMENTATION – I was surprised at the amount of lipstick pigments it contains, the shades just melt evenly onto the lips. Absolutely no signs of feathering with the darker shades! SHINE – Though I don’t like lips to look overly shiny and juicy, I was very impressed with how the Lip Lovers provide a “healthy plump” lip look without the overly WET look, which can easily be mistaken for not cleaning the lips after a plate of oily char kway teow. The secret to these Lip Lovers seem to be a silicone-infused oil which allows for a glide-on texture that smoothens out any irregularities on application. MEGA SCORE for me since I have so many lines on my lips.. MOISTURE & LASTING POWER – most lip balms and glosses tend to have the drying out to flakiness effect on me. Not sure why but my lips are extremely sensitive so when the Lip Lover remained intact on my lips for a good 3-4 hours without signs of flakes or dryness, I was sold. LIP PERFECTER – This is what I love most about the Lip Lovers and why I keep reaching for them. In fact, there will always be at least one in my makeup pouch. We have used and loved finishing powders, such as the NARS Light Reflecting Setting Powder and the Urban Decay Naked Skin Loose Finishing Powder. The Lancome Lip Lover is just like these powders, except that it focuses only on the lips. Because of it’s silicone-infused oil, it evens out any imperfections and lines or dryness on the lips and leave you with soft, smooth looking lips. As such, you don’t have to just wear these alone but layer it on top of your favourite lipsticks.

Some lip swatches…

Isn’t it pretty amazing that the colours turn out so vibrant and make my lips appear so smooth? LOVE!!

Some of my favourites:

#334 – such a wearable everyday my lips but better colour, great to just slather on anytime anywhere without the need for a mirror 😉 #337 – another wearable colour but with a slight pop of pink to brighten up the face #353 – can we just stop and talk about the pigmentation? This shade just pops and would immediately brighten up any look. You would not expect a gloss-like product to harness such pigmentation ya? Beautiful!

Let’s Compare: Lip Lover vs Gloss In Love

The packaging of the Lip Lover is really adorable. It’s a mini version of Lancome’s Gloss In Love. The applicator is a narrow doffer applicator which makes it easy to place products on the lips and get to the corners. It also has the same click to open mechanism, much like the Gloss In Love. imageimageimage

L to R: LL #316, GIL #341, GIL #144, LL #334

I don’t own many Gloss In Love but I figured the above were some closest comparisons that I could draw. It is quite evident from the swatches above that the textures are different. You can see that the Lip Lovers go on more smoothly and are more opaque and pigmented. In short, I really have nothing negative to say about these Lip Lovers. I love everything about it and they will be my staple lip perfecter for a long time! Don’t believe me? Go try it out on your lips at the counters to experience the “lip botox” effect without needles and pain 😉 Hope this has been helpful! Stay tuned for some Lancome LOTD.. I know.. I’m catching up on my blog posts.. 😀
