Everyday Makeup For Work/School

I did it!! I finally created my first iMovie using iMovie’11. As I’m using the 1st generation unibody Macbook Pro which did not have iMovie’11 (which has some amazing features included), I had to run to the Apple dealers here in Singapore to grab a copy to update my iMovie’08 to iMovie’11. I had initially thought that was all I needed to do…. but NO!! I had to upgrade my Mac OS from 10.5.8 to Snow Leopard 10.6.3 which was the minimum requirement to install iMovie’11.

Anyway, I bought all of that, including a brand new Apple Magic Mouse which I had been drooling over for a while now. I guess it’s my New Year present to myself!

It took me a couple of hours to backup my macbook, upgrade the OS and upgrade iLife’11. After everything was installed, I thought I could finally start embarking on my new pet project – videos!! I had zero experience with iMovie, so I did some research online, watched a couple YouTube videos to guide myself along the way.

I then had to do a setup of my “makeshift studio”. Tried out the lightings to find one where the makeup application can be seen. I actually did 2 separate video recordings – one in the morning and one in the night (in my dining area using the blinding light power of my chandelier). I finally chose the one I shot at night because I thought the lighting was a little more flattering on me (heehee) and less flushed out as the one filmed in the morning.

Editing the video, adding the transitions and voice over was so much fun!! I wish this was my day job!! Doing the voice over was actually the hardest part of the process. Nonetheless, it was an awesome experience and I can’t wait to do my next video.

Here’s my first tutorial – Creating an Everyday Look for Work:

Here’s what I used in the video:

Eyebrow Pencil: It is a drugstore eyeliner I got while I was in Japan. But you can use any eyebrow pencil that works for you.

Eyeshadow: Urban Decay Naked Palette

Eyeliner: Urban Decay Glide-on 24/7 Eyeliner in Zero

Blusher: MAC Mineral Blush in Warm Soul

Skin Finish: MAC MIneralized Skin Finish in Stereo Rose (Limited Edition) I couldn’t find a link to the limited edition, but this links to the other colors in the series.

Lips: Dior Addict Lip Glow – This is actually a lip balm that is moisturizing and has ingredients that will react with your lips to bring out your lip color and add freshness to your look.

Apologies but I did not take any still pictures while doing that video so I can’t show you close up pictures. But, next time, I’ll make sure I snap some still pictures for the blog!

Please comment on the video and my blog. Let me know how I can improve to create better content for you.
