Unveiling: March Vanity Trove

2 months have flown by so quickly and we are into the final month of the first quarter of 2013. February was a month of REDS – Grammy’s, Oscars and of course, Chinese New Year. So this month’s theme was Red Carpet Glamour.

Of course, the trove was filled with items that are geared to help you get primped into Red Carpet Ready-material 😉
This box was very well put together, with items for every purpose, from getting into shape to skincare to make-up and even scent.

We all know that beauty comes from within and I don’t mean personality (of course, that’s very important too!). What we eat and drink has a huge part to play in how we look on the outside. Thus, the first step to being red carpet ready is to detoxify your body with the Huiji Fruity Light tea. I have seen these at Watsons but never really tried it. This is said to help cleanse and promote a healthy digestive system. I seriously need this, especially after all the bah kwa and CNY goodies I’ve been gorging myself with the last couple weeks.

This is available at NTUC, Watsons, Guardian, and other medical halls for $6.90 per box of 12 satchels.

Masking is also key to ensuring that your skin is clean and hydrated for the big night. I am sure The Beauty Diary mask is no stranger to anyone who likes masking. These are so easy to use, convenient and inexpensive.

Available at $16.90 for 10-pieces at Guardian, Sasa and Watsons.

Now that we have prepped our body and face, we must not forget the most tell-tail part of our face — The EYES!
BelleWave is a brand from Switzerland which makes a potent serum – BelleWave EyeWave Visionergy ATP Cell Activating Serum (that’s a mouth full!) that recharges tired skin cells with a boost of ATP that helps stimulate cell renewal process. It also helps prevent tissue collapse in skin cells that ultimately leads to wrinkles.

There’s also an offer for Vanity Trove Subscribers – all you have to do is to tear out the BelleWave page from the VT booklet to redeem an Eye Treatment by BelleWave for $29 (usual price $138). That’s a fab deal!

Looking at the ingredients of the product, I spotted Coffee plant and Rasberry stem cells as 2 of the key ingredients. Coffee as we all know helps to take away puffiness (I need!) and raspberry helps with collagen production. Very keen to try this out soon.

Retails for $108 from www.bellwave.com.

Now on to the face makeup. A good base is extremely important and these days, given our humid weather here in Singapore, I tend to like wearing tinted moisturiser instead of foundation. Laura Mercier has recently launched a new Laura Mercier Tinted Moisturiser Creme Compact. I have been loving the LM liquid tinted moisturiser for years so when I saw this, I was super excited to give it a try.

I had initially tried it with the sponge provided and was very disapointed because it felt think and heavy on the part of my face with the product. Unconvinced that a tinted moisturiser should feel this thick, I tried it again but this time with a damp beauty blender and it blended wonderfully. As with the liquid form of this, coverage was light to medium. It dries to a semi-matte finish and is on the whole a nice product but probably better for combination to oily skin types.

Retails at $71 at Sephora and Tangs Beauty Hall.

Of course, we all need a powder to set our make-up with. Included in the trove is a Zao Compact Powder. Contrary to it’s “asian-like” name, this is actually a French brand which uses 100% organic and natural ingredients on all their products. The powder compact sets, mattifies and balances the complexion for a smooth and silky finish. I tried it on to set the LM tinted moisturiser and it works pretty well. Coverage is nice but I doubt I will use this because it is a full matte powder. Again, better for oily to combination skin types.

Retails at $36.90 at Perfect Potion.

Last but not least, every Vanity Trove box comes with a little handy mini-magazine which not only gives you information about the products in the month’s trove but also articles that you can read. It also comes filled with coupon discounts which you can use for certain products and member exclusive offers.

This month, it also featured suggestions from bloggers – including yours truly! 😉
