Sally Hansen Diamond Strength No-Chip Nail Color [Swatches & Comparisons]

Hi there!! I had the good fortune of attending a bloggers event by Sally Hansen about a week and a half back at Rendevous Gallery. As you know, I am fairly new to nail-stuff and am still relatively noobish when it comes to nail polish application. I am truly grateful for the invite to the event because I not only bagged a fantastic goodie bag, but also picked up a number of awesome tips as well as made a few new blogger friends 😉

This is a newly formulated range of nail polish from Sally Hansen which promises to…

“embellish your nails with a new brilliant, long lasting streak-free color and shine with their breakthrough formula. Infused with an exclusive Micro-Diamond formula, Platinum and Aluminium, every coat ensures Diamond strength protection up to 10 days. Woes of color Chipping and fading are now a thing of the past!”

There is a wide selection of 18 shades spanning across regal jewel tones, confectionary color, bold brights and ethereal sheers, all synthesized with diamond powder particles.

Another new addition to Sally Hansen’s Diamond family is the Diamond Flash Fast Dry Top Coat. It is said to strengthen and enhance the beauty of your new shimmering nails in 60 seconds. Packed with a unique balanced blend of safe and wholesome solvents (that does not include any toxic chemicals such as Tosylamide Formaldegyde Resin), your nails are reinforced with strength, wear, flexibility, adherence and gloss – virtually impervious to chipping and breakage.

It comes in a really solid bottle with hexagonal edges and a “diamond” in the middle – in line with the whole diamond theme. It’s one of those bottles that I’m certain would not smash even if I dropped it. Of course, I’m not going to put it to the test, not with a full bottle… maybe months down the road, I might, just for the sake of it!

Absolutely love the flat brush which provides a professtional application and smooth even finish… even for a noob like me!

Of the range of 18 colors, Black Tie called out to me the most while I was at the event. I love the dark greyish, slightly muted metallic hue. Managed to find 2 other colors that are pretty similar in my stash. In comparison, it seems Black Tie has a slight hint of blue which gives it that dark greyish blue color.

While I was at the event, I tried on Black Tie along with Diamonds and it totally transformed the color!!

Notice it’s no longer bluish grey? It turned out looking like a dark deep brownish maroon. I suppose it’s due to the color and reflection of the shimmer (“diamonds”) from the coat of Diamonds I layered above Black Tie.

I LOVE the versatility of Black Tie. (excuse the pinky above – I smudged it while painting my other hand :p)

A-England and Essie also have very similar shimmery diamond like shades which are awesome for layering and transforming a dull color into a really vibrant one!

Ahhhh Corals!!! Color of this summer. Something New is a slightly more orangy coral as compared to Trout Pout. Both are lovely and bubbly!

My Thoughts:

I really like the formulation of the nail polish. The flat brush made it a breeze to apply and the formula was non-gooey and very pigmented. Most colors would just require 2 coats to achieve a gorgeous finish.

The Fast Dry Top Coat was disappointing in my opinion. It was quite thick and gooey for a new bottle. I can’t help but compare it to my Seche Vite which allows me to dress up my nails with fresh paint at 11pm at night just before bed. My nail polish smudged twice at the event, despite having the top coat on for a couple minutes. Nonetheless, it does provide a nice shiny finish.
