Review: Lancôme Grandiose Mascara

Review: Lancôme Grandiose Mascara

DIGITAL, INNOVATION, CREATIVITY, TECHNOLOGY… These are what differentiates one brand from another and one product from another. In the last year or so, there has indeed been more innovative beauty products launched into the market than ever before.

Lancôme has always been in the front line when it comes to mascaras – I remembered the Lancôme Oscillation Mascara from years back, which I enjoyed using. But nothing beats their latest innovation – the Lancôme Grandiose Mascara!

And today, we celebrate the launch of the Lancôme Grandiose Mascara! If you are in Singapore, do head down to Sephora Ion Orchard at 2.45pm to join in the Official Launch Party! And now… let’s take a closer look at this amazing mascara!

First thing you would notice about this mascara would be the unique shape of the wand. After years of research, Lancôme finally created the perfect mascara that does it all – volume + length + curl + treatment. And most of all, ease of application! Sounds too good to be true? I thought so too, until I tried it out on my lashes and yup! It’s true!

Some official information from Lancôme:

The Swan-Neck™ wand is bent at 25º to adapt eye’s natural architecture, accessing all lashes from corner to corner, root to tip.

Say goodbye to layering your mascaras! Its innovative formula combines volume, length, curl and treatment in 1 mascara.

A groundbreaking complex featuring the exclusive Lancôme Native Rose-Cell Extract™ works to leave lashes suppler, softer and more resistant, for a denser and thicker lash fringe.

Combined with a color-amplifying polymer, the ultra-black pigments of the Grandiôse formula form the heart of its incredibly dense black color.

Sunrise with the beautiful new #Lancôme #Grandiôse Mascara ⛅️ This exquisite mascara which bends all the rules you know about mascaras will be launching on 21aug at @sephorasg and 5 sept at all deptstores. Be the first 3 shoppers to purchase this mascara

Let’s talk about the mascara from my perspective, shall we?

OMG I love it! The shape of the bottle is more luxurious than ever, and not to mention that exquisite black rose at the tip of the bottle. Such a beautiful photographing prop.

Aside from the pretty packaging, the bottle is also very functional as you can see from the picture above. There is a “stopper” at the neck of the bottle which serves 2 purpose:

1. To prevent the mascara from drying up when the wand is in use.

2. To ensure that you never pull out too much product from the bottle, you know, with most mascaras, there’s a tendency to get excess mascara on the tip of the wand and you either clean it off onto a tissue or like what I do, wipe it on the tip of the bottle.

I would say, this is quite a clever innovation, but possibly very underrated and under-appreciated function because you can’t see it!

This mascara is said to add volume, length, curl and treats the lashes. I’ve tried it several times and it really does all that, in just one coat! Although it’s not marketed as a waterproof mascara, I have tested it’s lasting power through yoga and it holds up pretty well, even with my naturally oily eyelids. The formula can be a little wet when you first apply it, but no sweat because it dries up in no time.

I do think that the formula is amazing for adding volume and length, but perhaps because it’s quite a wet formula, it doesn’t hold curl as much as I would like.

Bent at 25 degrees – the perfect angle for getting every single teeny weeny lashes, especially the ones nearest to the inner corners of the eyes. If I was perfectly honest, when I first saw the shape, I thought it’s just so gimmicky, but once I tried it, I was blown away and I don’t think I can quite get used to using a normal straight mascara wand again.

It’s not just the 25 degree angle wand, but also the uneven teeth on the applicator which means, no need to wiggle the wand when applying mascara because the uneven teeth will ensure that it coats every lash, long or short evenly and effectively.

It’s such a breeze to apply the mascara on both eyes. I find that I can easily get every single tiny lashes, especially the one nearer to the inner corners of the eyes.

The above pictorial demonstrates how I like to use the mascara wand and it’s what I’m most comfortable with. I would suggest holding the wand at an angle that is in line with the shape of the eye and apply away. There is no real right or wrong way to apply the mascara, just play with it and see what works best for you. You will be amazed by how easy it is to use.

Bottom line, I think it’s an amazing mascara and one well worth the price tag of $60. Think about it as investment to save a couple more minutes of sleep in the morning when you rush to work. Also, I bet this mascara has the ability to last much longer given the stopper function it’s got, it will be less susceptible to air entering the bottle and drying up the mascara.

Don’t forget to pop by Sephora Ion Orchard today at 2.45pm for the official launch party! See you there!
