Glitter Gal Duo Chrome Nail Polish

Who doesn’t like duo chrome holographic nail polish?! I don’t think anyone would say no to a perfect shade (or shades) of shiny chrome nails.

I wanted to share with you a new brand of nail polish from Australia which I received from Mei Mei Signatures to try. I was of course unfamiliar with this brand, so I did some research…

Glitter Gal is an Australian company that designs and manufactures makeup artist quality cosmetics using a kaleidoscope of bright sparkly colours, packaged in high fashion animal prints and bling.

Glitter Gal applies “true” holographic particles in the formulation for their extraordinary 3D range of Holographic & Sparkle nail polishes. This ingredient is 30 times more expensive than any other nail polish ingredient. Thus making holographic nail polish the highest quality possible. You will notice the smoothness to the finish of polish, and reflective effects are amazing.

Glitter Gal Nail Polishes are free from toluene, formaldehyde, and DBP.

Over the last year, Glitter Gal have been continually asked to create a “duo chromes” collection and they finally successfully launched the new collection in July 2012.  The duo range is unique to Glitter Gal, the range is said to be “5 Free”, premium and boast exceptional quality.

I believe there are 6 colors in the collection. I received the color Distorted Platinum to try.

As you can see from above, even from the bottle, the polish seems to have 2 different shades with multiple undertones. Distorted Platinum has got a plum duo chrome.

The quality of the polish is exquisite. It has got a wide angle flat brush which makes application a quick 2-3 strokes. The consistency of the polish is also really smooth, making application a breeze and it is quick drying too!

This duo chrome nail polish can either be worn alone or over a darker base coat. I had initially tried on the nail polish on it’s own. It requires a decent 3 coats to achieve an opaque finish.

Once I had my 3 coats of nail polish painted, I was in awe. It looked like I had pasted on silver christmas wrapper on my nails. You know, the ones that reflect light in every direction, giving off different shades of silver? Yup! That’s the one! I moved my fingers in different angles and I totally gasped at how beautiful the polish looked.. Shades of silver, pearly white, pink, plum and green altogether. I loved it!! These are by far one of the most multi-dimensional metallic nail polish I have ever owned. It’s got such a metallic chrome finish which changes color when viewed from different angles.

These pictures don’t do the polish much justice.. I tried my best to capture the multi-dimensional shades.

This nail polish is equally amazing when used as a top coat over a dark base color. Since I did not have any opaque black shade, I used “Hit Me With Your Best Shot” from Deborah Lippmann. What I noticed was that using a dark base helped bring out the true plum undertone of the nail polish a lot more.

Isn’t it amazing how one nail polish can have so many looks?
